I don't know why I bother going to these franchise outlets any more. They always disappoint. They are just cashing in on the name and can't backup the experience. Different universe from the ones in Taiwan. Don't go here, go to your local dim sum restaurant (ask your Asian friends) and I'm sure you'll have a better experience. If you ever find yourself in Taipei, ABSOLUTELY check it out as the food is spectacular.
At the 3rd flr location which said it was supposed to open at 11:30, we're still standing outside with other people 11:40. Eventually someone called and a person came up to tell everyone waiting to go to the 2nd floor entry... not sure why they didn't put up a sign telling people.
Food is okay. Service is poor. When seated, they didn't say anything or explain how the ordering worked. We hadn't received all of the items ordered when we were given the bill, which was placed on the corner of the table. Empty dishes weren't cleared, we had to move them to make room.
Our experience also included a kid at the next table who was jumping around, touching everything on our table because the table are so close and being loud, parents didn't do anything. Bot the restaurants fault but added to the overall experience.
Wouldn't go bank and don't recommend.
Unique flavours in the menu, probably to cater to the Australian market!! Especially love the wagyu beef fried rice and dried noodles with special sauce 😋 quality of xiao long baos is 💯 too 🥰. The shrimp dumplings tasted a little weird to my liking (very mushy) but other than that everything was really delicious, portion sizes are very generous. 👍
The restaurant also reminded me a bit of haidilao, food orders were served by a cute robot. 🤖
Din Tai Fung is always my favourite Xiao Long Bao place. Each soup dumpling is individually weighed, hand shaped and steamed to order, ensuring they are fresh and piping hot delivered to your table. 😃
Food and service are always above expectation. Unlike some of the Chinese restaurants featuring fiery Sichuan style dishes, the spicy dishes at Din Tai Fung is generally mild yet delightfully flavoured. 🙂
The Hot & Sour Soup with Shredded Pork was packed with ingredients. Each spoonful of soup provided a mouthful of minced mushrooms, shredded pork and sliced silky tofu etc. Egg Fried Rice with Fried Pork Chop, pork chop with crispy coating was tender & juicy. Their noodles had a lovely texture, accompanied by tender beef or juicy dumplings or shredded meat, they were all delicious. 😋
Xiao long bao is the best comfort food and Din Tai Fung always delivers
The food and service were quite good and better than expected but just something about the atmosphere wasn't as good as expected. Nonetheless I'd happily go back here anytime. The prices weren't too bad either and everything was extremely fresh.
1) We were directed to a table suitable for 4 people even though we were a party of 6.
2) Once we sat down we were informed that the kitchen would close in 5 minutes. They waited to tell us this to suck us in.
3) We asked to be relocated to a larger table that had opened up, but they rejected our request because they didn't want to clean again.
4) The food that came out was nothing like the falsely advertised images. One of the plates honestly looked like it came from another table. They were reluctant to swap it and asked if they could just cancel it as the kitchen was closing.
5) When we went to pay they added a surcharge for Sunday and a credit card surcharge. Who charges a 10% Sunday surcharge?
6) My final thoughts are that this company is crooked and I would never go there again.
Food and service was disgusting in my opinion.
I’ve had din tai fung in Malaysia and it was amazing I loved everything. Tried it here in Sydney not the best there is so many other dumplings places around better quality and better service and cheaper too
